The Floradora is an enticing semi-sweet cocktail and an absolute classic.
Named after a British musical, Florodora was a monster hit at the turn of the century. So popular they created a cocktail, but it was incorrectly listed in 1933 Jack’s Manual as Floradora and the misspelling stuck!
When To Drink A Floradora
It’s a refreshing cocktail in the summer but miraculously sweet and spicy so great by the fire in the winter too. Drink it when you’re looking for an easy-to-make refreshing long drink, that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Our top tip for the most irresistible Floradora
Originally, the drink was made with raspberry syrup, but we will be using our raspberry gin, and British Cassis from our neighbours, White Heron Drinks. If you can’t find this then Chambord (black raspberry) will also be delicious in our Floradora cocktail.
Cocktail ingredients
For one serving:
- 50ml Penrhos Wonky Raspberry Gin
- 25ml British Cassis (or Chambord)
- Half a lime
- Handful of raspberries
- Ginger Ale
How To Make a Floradora
1. Grab a highball (tumbler) glass.
2. Into your glass muddle a handful of raspberries.
3. Add the lime juice.
4. Next pour Penrhos Gin and British Cassis.
5. Fill the glass with ice as preferred and stir to combine.
6. Top up with ginger ale and gently stir to combine.
No need to garnish, this pink cocktail is full of flavour on its own.
